Cyberpunk 2077 2.0+: Best Cyberware and Quickhack Builds
Overview
Patch 2.0 completely overhauled Cyberpunk 2077's cyberware system. Cyberware Capacity now replaces the old armor-based slot system, and each piece of chrome costs capacity points. You can expand your capacity through the Edgerunner perk (Tech tree), Cyberware Capacity Shards (random enemy drops), and level progression. At max level with all shards collected, the practical ceiling is approximately 320-340 capacity.
The 2.0+ meta coalesces around three dominant archetypes, each with distinct play patterns, capacity requirements, and attribute spreads. This guide covers all three with exact cyberware loadouts, perk priorities, and gameplay tactics.
Build 1: Netrunner (Quickhack God)
Concept
The Netrunner clears entire encounters without firing a single bullet. Overclock (Intelligence 20, third tier) converts health into RAM, enabling rapid-fire quickhack chains that can explode an entire squad through contagion spread + overheat detonation. This build scales hardest into the late game and makes Very Hard difficulty feel like a puzzle rather than a firefight.
Attribute Spread (Level 50)
| Attribute | Points | Key Perks |
|---|---|---|
| Intelligence | 20 | Overclock, Queue Mastery, Embedded Exploit, Subliminal Message |
| Technical Ability | 20 | Edgerunner, All Things Cyber, License to Chrome, Renaissance Punk |
| Body | 15 | Painkiller, Adrenaline Rush, Health Freak (for Overclock health pool) |
| Cool | 4 | Killer Instinct (base crit damage) |
| Reflexes | 6 | Slippery (dash unlocks, mobility) |

Quickhack Deck: Tetratronic Rippler Mk.5
The Rippler is the definitive Netrunner deck post-2.0. Its unique auto-upload passive (Reboot Optics + Weapon Glitch on 3 nearest enemies when RAM dips below 50%) provides both offensive pressure and defensive cover simultaneously. Paired with the Queue Mastery perk for stacked quickhacks, you can queue:
Optimal combat chain: Contagion → Overheat → Short Circuit → Synapse Burnout
Contagion spreads to all enemies within 8 meters. Overheat detonates the poison cloud for AoE fire damage. Short Circuit finishes stragglers. Synapse Burnout is the single-target finisher for skull-level elites. With Subliminal Message (T4 Intelligence perk), quickhacks cost 1 less RAM per unique quickhack queued, making four-hack chains sustainable.
Perk Priority Order
- Overclock (Int 20, 2 perk points): The build's engine. Converts health to RAM, allows unlimited quickhack uploads while active. Duration scales with max RAM and health.
- Queue Mastery (Int 20, 1 point): Queue up to 4 quickhacks on a single target. Damage bonus +15% per stacked hack.
- Embedded Exploit (Int 15, 1 point): +60% quickhack damage against enemies affected by control quickhacks, covert quickhacks, or DOT effects.
- Subliminal Message (Int 15, 1 point): Quickhacks cost 1 less RAM per unique queued hack, minimum cost 1. RAM cost reduction scales multiplicatively with Rippler's passive.
- Edgerunner (Tech 20, 3 points): +50 Cyberware Capacity. Essential for fitting the full chrome suite.
- License to Chrome (Tech 15, 1 point): +40 cyberware capacity. The bridge to late-game builds.
Build 2: Sandy Samurai (Blade DPS)
Concept
The Sandy Samurai activates Sandevistan, enters slow-motion, and dismembers everything in the room before time resumes. This is the highest skill-ceiling build — positioning, target priority, and Sandevistan uptime management separate good players from great ones. With the Militech Apogee, you can activate/deactivate Sandy at will with minimal cooldown, allowing surgical strike-and-reposition cycles.
Attribute Spread (Level 50)
| Attribute | Points | Key Perks |
|---|---|---|
| Reflexes | 20 | Lead and Steel, Tailwind, Slaughterhouse, Flash of Steel |
| Technical Ability | 20 | Edgerunner, All Things Cyber, Pyromania (for grenade synergy) |
| Body | 15 | Adrenaline Rush, Painkiller, Juggernaut |
| Cool | 9 | Killer Instinct, Assassin |
| Intelligence | 3 | (Dumped — no quickhacks) |
Cyberware Loadout (Total: ~305 capacity)
| Slot | Cyberware | Capacity | Notes |

| Circulatory | Blood Pump | 20 | +50% heal recharge |
| Hands | Gorilla Arms | 16 | +4 Body for checks (opens Body 20 doors with base 16) |
Iconic Weapons
Primary: Byakko (Wakako's reward) — This iconic katana gained a massive buff in 2.0. After killing an enemy, your next attack within 3 seconds is a leaping lunge with +200% range and guaranteed critical hit. Chain kills cascade these lunges, letting you teleport between targets during Sandy. You earn Byakko by completing all of Wakako Okada's gigs in Westbrook.
Secondary: Scalpel — Found during the Big in Japan gig (Dennis in Afterlife). While Sandevistan is active, Scalpel grants +50% crit chance and causes all hits to apply bleeding. The synergy with Apogee's built-in crit stats pushes you to 100% crit chance with zero Cool investment.
Third slot: Errata — The thermal katana from the Disasterpiece power plant. Sets enemies on fire on hit. Useful for groups where burning spread keeps DOT pressure going while you reposition.
Combat Loop
- Activate Apogee Sandevistan (85% slow). The Apogee has no duration bar — it stays active until you deactivate or run out of stamina.
- Sprint (with dash) to the highest-value target. Dash attack with Scalpel applies bleeding instantly.
- After the first kill, swap to Byakko. The post-kill lunge buff chains target to target.
- Deactivate Sandy between groups to conserve stamina. The Apogee's cooldown is only 22 seconds at legendary tier, and stamina regen kicks in immediately.
- Use Optical Camo for approach on groups with heavy snipers or netrunners.
Perk Priority
- Lead and Steel (Reflex 20, 1 point): Sandy duration +25%, cooldown -15%. Defining perk.
- Slaughterhouse (Reflex 15, 1 point): +40% damage against max-health enemies (first-hit burst).
- Flash of Steel (Reflex 20, 1 point): Every third blade combo attack is a guaranteed crit with +100% damage.
- Tailwind (Reflex 15, 1 point): Dash attacks consume 50% less stamina while Sandy is active.
Build 3: Chrome Compressor Berserker (Immortal Tank)
Concept
The Chrome Compressor trades the operating system slot for a massive cyberware capacity boost, enabling a full-body chrome build with zero hacking and zero Sandy. In exchange, you get the highest mitigation chance in the game, near-immortality through Second Heart and auto-healing, and the raw damage of Berserk mode. This build rewards aggression — the less you stop moving, the less you take damage.
Attribute Spread (Level 50)
| Attribute | Points | Key Perks |
|---|---|---|
| Body | 20 | Berserk, Pain to Gain, Juggernaut, Wolverine |
| Technical Ability | 20 | Edgerunner, All Things Cyber, Pyromania |
| Reflexes | 20 | Tailwind, Can't Touch This, Slippery |
| Cool | 4 | Killer Instinct |

| Hands | Gorilla Arms | 16 | +4 Body |
| Legs | Reinforced Tendons | 14 | Double jump |
| Integumentary | Pain Editor | 16 | -10% incoming damage |
Berserk Mechanics
The Berserk operating system (available from any ripperdoc, legendary tier at Body 20) provides:
- 20-second duration, 45-second cooldown
- +100% melee damage
- +25% max health
- +15% mitigation chance
- +10% armor
- All attacks are non-lethal during Berserk
- Immunity to stagger and knockdown
Paired with Pain to Gain (Body 15), health regen starts immediately upon entering Berserk, recovering 3% max health per second. This effectively makes you immortal for the full 20-second duration. With Second Heart as a backup, death is almost impossible outside of fall damage.
Weapon Loadout
Primary: Gorilla Arms — With Body 20, the charged heavy attack sends enemies flying and applies a brief stun. The attack speed is the fastest melee option, and each hit refunds stamina during Berserk.
Ranged: Guts (Rebecca's Shotgun) — Found in Corpo Plaza, marked on the map. This iconic shotgun fires explosive rounds that stagger enemies and deal splash damage. Perfect for closing distance before engaging Berserk melee.
Heavy: Ba Xing Chong (Smasher's Smart Shotgun) — Post-game reward from Adam Smasher. Fires explosive seeking projectiles. Best-in-slot for any non-Int build.
Cyberware Capacity Optimization
Cyberware Capacity is the single most important resource in 2.0+. Each capacity shard drops randomly from enemies (roughly one shard per 100 kills in high-density zones). The total shard-based capacity gain caps at approximately +50, but reaching this requires grinding through all NCPD Scanner Hustles and main missions.
Capacity by source:
- Base (level 1-50): ~210
- Edgerunner perk (Tech 20): +50
- License to Chrome (Tech 15): +40
- Renaissance Punk (Tech 20): +15% final capacity (multiplicative)
- Shard drops: up to +50 (random, uncapped in theory)
- Chrome Compressor (OS): +55 (costs -40 on OS slot, net +55)
The optimal build always hits Tech 20 for Edgerunner + Renaissance Punk. The final 15% multiplier from Renaissance Punk applies after all flat bonuses, making it the single most valuable perk point in the game for any build.
Build Comparison
| Build | OS | Playstyle | Difficulty | Clear Speed | Survivability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Netrunner | Tetratronic Rippler | Stealth/Hacker | Low | Very Fast | Medium (Overclock health drain) |
| Sandy Samurai | Militech Apogee | Melee DPS | High | Fastest | Medium (positioning-dependent) |
| Chrome Compressor | Chrome Compressor | Tank/Brawler | Medium | Moderate | Highest (Second Heart + Berserk) |
For a first Very Hard playthrough, Netrunner is the strongest and safest pick. Sandy Samurai has the highest ceiling but requires encounter knowledge and precise Sandevistan timing. Chrome Compressor is the most forgiving and allows aggressive play with minimal downtime.
