Genshin Impact Exploration Guide: Oculus Locations, Resonance Stones & Offering Systems

By GameGuide Team·Published Feb 18, 2026·Updated Mar 10, 2026

Genshin Impact

Interactive-style guide to every region',s hidden chests, puzzle solutions, and oculi locations. Teyvat-wide 100% exploration checklist and treasure compass tips.

Introduction

Exploration is the backbone of Genshin Impact's open-world experience. Across six released nations (Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan), the map spans over 70 square kilometers with thousands of collectibles, puzzles, and hidden chests. The Oculus collection system—elemental orbs scattered across each region—rewards you with stamina increases, Primogems, and regional currency for offering systems that unlock additional rewards. This guide provides the complete framework for efficient exploration: Oculus counts and rewards per region, how to craft and use Oculus Resonance Stones and Treasure Compasses, and detailed breakdowns of each region's offering system including rewards, requirements, and optimal farming strategies.

Whether you're a new player working through Mondstadt or a veteran catching up on Natlan's newest collectibles, this guide covers the full exploration toolkit.

Oculus Collection: Complete Region Breakdown

Each region has a collectible "Oculus" tied to its element. These are found in the overworld—on cliff faces, floating in the air, inside caves, or behind puzzle gates. Collecting them and offering them at the region's Statue of the Seven grants rewards at each level.

Mondstadt — Anemoculus

Total Anemoculi: 66

Statue LevelAnemoculi RequiredCumulativeKey Rewards
111Anemo Traveler Constellation
223Adventure EXP, Primogems
347Stamina +8
4512Primogems
5618Stamina +8
6725Primogems
7833Stamina +8
8942Primogems
91052Stamina +8
101466Stamina +8, Anemo Sigils, Primogems, Anemo Traveler Constellation

Total Rewards: 65 Primogems, +40 Max Stamina, 2 Anemo Traveler Constellations, Anemo Sigils (for souvenir shop).

Extra Anemoculus: There is 1 extra Anemoculus beyond what's needed for Level 10. It serves no purpose after maxing the statue.

Farming Tips: Anemoculi float in the air and require gliding or climbing. Many are on top of Stormterror's Lair ruins and the cliffs of Stormbearer Mountains. Use the Anemo Resonance Stone (crafted at Mondstadt's Alchemy Bench) to locate missing ones.

Liyue — Geoculus

Total Geoculi: 131

Statue LevelGeoculi RequiredCumulativeKey Rewards
122Geo Traveler Constellation
2-9Varies (5-12 each)Stamina +8 per 2 levels, Primogems, Adventure EXP
1030131Stamina +8, Geo Sigils, Primogems, Geo Traveler Constellation

Total Rewards: 130 Primogems, +56 Max Stamina, 2 Geo Traveler Constellations.

Extra Geoculus: There is 1 extra Geoculus (total 131, need 130).

Farming Tips: Liyue's Geoculi are the most punishing to collect due to vertical terrain. Many are on floating rock platforms in Jueyun Karst and Minlin. The Chasm has Geoculi deep underground—you need the Lumenstone Adjuvant gadget (from Chasm world quest) to navigate safely. Craft a Geoculus Resonance Stone at Liyue's alchemy bench (requires Cor Lapis).

Inazuma — Electroculus

Total Electroculi: 181 (across 6 islands + Enkanomiya + Seirai + Tsurumi + Watatsumi)

Statue LevelKey Rewards
Levels 1-9Stamina +8 at levels 3, 5, 7, 9. Primogems at all levels. Electro Traveler Constellations (3 total).
Level 10Electro Sigils, Primogems, Namecard: Inazuma Electro-Culus

Total Rewards: 320 Primogems, +32 Max Stamina, 3 Electro Traveler Constellations.

Farming Tips: Inazuma's Electroculi are often locked behind Electrogranum levels. You need the Sacred Sakura's Favor leveled up (see below) to access higher-level Electrogranum, which let you pass through advanced Thunder Barriers. Start with Narukami Island, then Kannazuka → Yashiori → Watatsumi → Seirai → Tsurumi. The final 30-40 Electroculi require Tsurumi Island's fog-clearing quest (Through the Mists).

Enkanomiya does not have Electroculi—it uses the separate Key Sigil system instead.

Sumeru — Dendroculus

Total Dendroculi: 271 (Rainforest + Desert)

Statue LevelKey Rewards
Levels 1-9Stamina +8 at levels 2, 4, 6, 8. Primogems, Dendro Traveler Constellations (6 total).
Level 10Dendro Sigils, Primogems, Sumeru Dendroculus Namecard

Total Rewards: 540 Primogems, +32 Max Stamina, 6 Dendro Traveler Constellations (complete kit).

Farming Tips: Sumeru is the largest region by landmass. The rainforest Dendroculi (110) are relatively concentrated. The desert Dendroculi (161) are spread across the Hypostyle Desert, Desert of Hadramaveth, and Gavireh Lajavard. Many desert Dendroculi require the Sorush gadget (from the Khvarena of Good and Evil quest) to reach floating platforms, and some are locked behind Eternal Oasis puzzles.

Split your farming into: Rainforest (Gandharva Ville → Vimara Village → Apam Woods → Devantaka Mountain) → Hypostyle Desert (Aaru Village → Mausoleum of King Deshret) → Desert of Hadramaveth (Tanit Camps → Wadi Al-Majuj) → Gavireh Lajavard.

Fontaine — Hydroculus

Total Hydroculi: 271

Statue LevelKey Rewards
Levels 1-9Stamina +8 at every other level. Primogems. Hydro Traveler Constellations (6 total).
Level 10Hydro Sigils, Primogems, Namecard

Total Rewards: 540 Primogems, +40 Max Stamina, 6 Hydro Traveler Constellations.

Max Stamina after completing Mondstadt + Liyue + Inazuma + Sumeru + Fontaine: 240 (base 100 + 100 region bonuses + 40 from Fontaine Statue).

Farming Tips: Fontaine's underwater areas contain ~40% of all Hydroculi. Use the Xenochromatic Aberrant abilities (Armored Crab to break rocks, Blubberbeast to reveal hidden paths, Hunter's Ray to cut seaweed). Above-water Hydroculi cluster around the Opera Epiclese, Court of Fontaine, and the Beryl Region research institute.

Natlan — Pyroculus

Total Pyroculi: ~180+ (ongoing as of Version 5.x — more added with each map expansion)

Statue LevelKey Rewards
Current Max (Level 8-10 depending on patch)Stamina +8 per 2 levels. Primogems. Pyro Traveler Constellations.

Total Rewards (ongoing): 240-320 Primogems, +24-32 Stamina, Pyro Traveler Constellations.

Farming Tips: Natlan Pyroculi require the Saurian Indwelling mechanic. Each of the six tribes' regions requires a specific Saurian form:

  • Tepetlisaur (Rock): Children of Echoes territory, used for climbing cliff faces and breaking rock barriers
  • Koholasaur (Water): People of the Springs, used for water traversal and underwater currents
  • Yumkasaur (Grapple): Scions of the Canopy, used for grappling across canyon gaps
  • Plus Qucusaur (Flower-Feather Clan), Iktomisaur (Masters of the Night-Wind), and Tatankasaur (Collective of Plenty)

Pyroculi are often locked behind Phlogiston vents—you need to possess the correct Saurian type and have sufficient Phlogiston energy to reach them.

Oculus Resonance Stones

When you can't find the last few Oculi in a region, Resonance Stones pinpoint their location.

Crafting Requirements

RegionResonance Stone RecipeKey MaterialSource
MondstadtAnemoculus Resonance Stone5 Dandelion Seeds + 5 Cecilia + 1 Crystal ChunkDandelion Seeds: Mondstadt fields (use Anemo). Cecilia: Starsnatch Cliff.
LiyueGeoculus Resonance Stone5 Cor Lapis + 5 Glaze Lily + 1 Crystal ChunkCor Lapis: Mt. Hulao, Mingyun Village. Glaze Lily: Qingce Village, Liyue Harbor terraces.
InazumaElectroculus Resonance Stone5 Naku Weed + 5 Sakura Bloom + 1 Amethyst LumpNaku Weed: Seirai Island, Tatarasuna. Sakura Bloom: Narukami Island (use Electro on the pink clusters).
SumeruDendroculus Resonance Stone5 Rukkhashava Mushroom + 5 Padisarah + 1 Crystal ChunkRukkhashava: Apam Woods, Devantaka Mountain. Padisarah: Sumeru City, Pardis Dhyai.
FontaineHydroculus Resonance Stone5 Rainbow Rose + 5 Romaritime Flower + 1 Crystal ChunkRainbow Rose: Court of Fontaine. Romaritime: underwater Fontaine.
NatlanPyroculus Resonance Stone5 Quenepa Berry + 5 Glowing Hornshroom + 1 Crystal ChunkQuenepa: Children of Echoes region. Hornshroom: Ochkanatlan area.

How to Use

  1. Craft the Resonance Stone at any Alchemy Bench.
  2. Equip it from your Inventory → Gadgets tab.
  3. Use the gadget (press Z or assigned hotkey). If there are uncollected Oculi in the current region, a blue circle appears on the minimap showing the approximate area.
  4. The Resonance Stone is consumed on use (one-time item). If it doesn't find any Oculi, it returns to your inventory.
  5. Head to the marked area. The Oculus appears on the minimap as a star icon when you're within ~50 meters.

Pro Tip: Craft in batches of 5-10 for the last handful of Oculi. At 90%+ completion, you'll burn through multiple stones zeroing in on the last few.

Treasure Compasses

Treasure Compasses locate unopened chests within a region. Unlike Resonance Stones, Compasses are permanent gadgets—craft once, use forever.

Crafting Requirements (Reputation Level)

You must reach a specific Reputation Level in each region to unlock the Compass blueprint:

RegionCompassReputation RequirementKey Materials
MondstadtAnemo Treasure CompassReputation Level 610 Philanemo Mushroom + 30 Crystal Chunk + 50,000 Mora
LiyueGeo Treasure CompassReputation Level 610 Cor Lapis + 30 Crystal Chunk + 50,000 Mora
InazumaElectro Treasure CompassReputation Level 910 Amakumo Fruit + 30 Crystal Chunk + 50,000 Mora
SumeruDendro Treasure CompassReputation Level 910 Padisarah + 30 Crystal Chunk + 50,000 Mora
FontaineHydro Treasure CompassReputation Level 910 Rainbow Rose + 30 Crystal Chunk + 50,000 Mora
NatlanPyro Treasure CompassReputation Level 4+ (varies by tribe)10 Quenepa Berry + 30 Crystal Chunk + 50,000 Mora

How to Use

  1. Equip the Compass from your Gadgets menu.
  2. Use it outdoors (does not work in Domains, inside buildings, or in the Serenitea Pot).
  3. If there's an unopened chest within range (~150-200 meters), a golden stream points toward it on the minimap, and an arrow appears in the overworld.
  4. The Compass has a 30-second cooldown if it finds a chest. 5-second cooldown if no chest is found.
  5. After opening the chest it points to, use it again to find the next one.

Limitations: Compasses do not detect:

  • Chests locked behind puzzles (Seelies, pressure plates, torches) — must solve the puzzle first
  • Chests spawned by specific quest progression
  • Remarkable Chests in the Serenitea Pot
  • Shrines of Depths (use Shrine keys instead)
  • Time trial challenge chests (must complete first)

Optimal Workflow: Use the Compass first to clean up all standard chests. Then check your achievements for puzzle-type chests you may have missed. Finally, use the Interactive Map (official HoYoverse Teyvat Interactive Map) to mark off found Oculi and cross-reference any chests your Compass couldn't detect.

Offering Systems: Regional Progression Trees

Each region has a unique offering system that consumes region-specific Sigils in exchange for rewards.

Mondstadt: No Offering System

Mondstadt does not have a dedicated offering system. Anemo Sigils (obtained from chests and Statue upgrades) are spent at the Mondstadt Souvenir Shop (Marjorie, city center) for:

  • Memory of Roving Gales (Anemo Traveler Constellations)
  • Northlander Billet Troves (random weapon billet)
  • Weapon Ascension Materials
  • Mora

The shop has a limited inventory—once purchased, Sigils are only usable for Mora (2 Mora per Sigil).

Liyue: No Dedicated Offering System

Similar to Mondstadt. Geo Sigils are spent at the Liyue Souvenir Shop (Xigu Antiques, Liyue Harbor).

Inazuma: Sacred Sakura's Favor

The Sacred Sakura at the Grand Narukami Shrine absorbs Electro Sigils in exchange for blessings.

Level RangeElectro Sigils per LevelKey Reward Milestones
1-2025 eachPrimogems, Acquaint Fates, Intertwined Fates
21-3025 eachElectrogranum Level upgrades (access to Thunder Barriers)
31-4025 eachTalent Books (Inazuma series), Mora
41-5025 eachCrown of Insight (at Level 50), Weapon Billets

Maximum Level: 50. Total Electro Sigils required: 1,250.

Electrogranum Levels: This is the critical function of Sacred Sakura for exploration. At Levels 1, 7, 17, 27, 37, and 47, your Electrogranum level increases. Higher levels allow you to pass through stronger Thunder Barriers—essential for reaching Electroculi and chests on Seirai and Tsurumi Islands.

Sigil Sources: Electro Sigils drop from chests (1-10 per chest, scaling with chest rarity). Domain completion also rewards Sigils. There are exactly enough Sigils in the overworld to reach Level 50 after 100% exploration of all six Inazuma islands + Enkanomiya.

Sumeru: Tree of Dreams

Located in Vanarana (the dream version—activate using the Vintage Lyre gadget playing the Rhythm of the Great Dream).

Level RangeDendro Sigils per LevelKey Rewards
1-2035 eachPrimogems, Fates, Talent Books
21-3035 eachBillets, Weapon Ascension Materials
31-4035 eachMora, Character EXP Materials
41-5035 eachCrown of Insight (at 50), Namecard

Maximum Level: 50. Total Dendro Sigils required: 1,750.

The Tree of Dreams also grants a permanent Dendro DMG Bonus to the entire party at certain milestones (similar to Statue stamina—but DMG% instead).

Fontaine: Fountain of Lucine

Located outside the Opera Epiclese. Accepts Hydro Sigils.

Level RangeHydro Sigils per LevelKey Rewards
1-2030 eachPrimogems, Fates, Hydroculus Resonance Stones
21-3030 eachTalent Books (Fontaine series), Billets
31-4030 eachWeapon Ascension Materials, Mora
41-5030 eachCrown of Insight (at 50), Fontaine Namecard

Maximum Level: 50. Total Hydro Sigils required: 1,500.

Natlan: Tablet of Tona

Located at the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. Accepts Pyro Sigils. Max level and total Sigil requirements are ongoing with map expansions (Version 5.x). Current max: ~Level 30-40 (subject to change as new areas release). Rewards follow the standard pattern: Primogems, Fates, Talent Books, Billets, and a Crown of Insight at maximum level.

Shrine of Depths: Regional Key Chests

Each region has Shrines of Depths—locked pavilions that contain a Luxurious Chest. Shrine keys are obtained from one-time activities:

RegionNumber of ShrinesKey Sources
Mondstadt10Adventure Rank Ascension (1 per Rank at 5, 15, 25, 35, 45), one-time Domains (3), World Quests
Liyue10Adventure Rank Ascension, one-time Domains (3), World Quests
Inazuma10Sacred Sakura Levels (1 per 5 levels), Statue of the Seven Levels, one-time Domains
Sumeru10Tree of Dreams Levels (1 per 5 levels), Statue Levels, World Quests

  • Sumeru: 4 in Rainforest, 6 across the 3 Desert zones
  • Fontaine: Distributed across Court of Fontaine, Beryl Region, and underwater zones

Each Shrine Luxurious Chest contains: 40 Primogems, 10 region Sigils, 3-4 pieces of 4-star Artifacts, 20,000-40,000 Mora, and 3-5 Hero's Wit.

Exploration Efficiency Framework

Priority Order for New Players

PriorityActivityWhy
1Statues of the Seven (unlock waypoints + map vision)Reveals map, enables fast travel, provides stamina
2Waypoints (all visible ones)Fast travel is essential for efficient farming
3Shrines of Depths (as keys become available)Luxurious Chests = 40 Primogems each
4Oculus collection (guided by Resonance Stones)Stamina increases permanently unlock more exploration options
5Treasure Compass cleanup (after reaching 80%+ exploration naturally)Catches chests you missed
6Puzzle cleanup (use Interactive Map)Compass doesn't detect puzzle-locked chests
7Reputation quests + bounties (weekly)Unlocks Compass blueprints, gadgets, and NRE (Menu 30)
8Offering System levelingPassive rewards from Sigils collected during exploration

Per-Region Reputation Priority

Mondstadt/Liyue: Focus on Bounties and Requests to hit Reputation 6 (Compass blueprint), then 8 (for Condensed Resin recipe at Liyue Reputation 3, NRE at Mondstadt 5).

Inazuma/Sumeru/Fontaine: Compass requires Reputation 9 (or higher). Start World Quests early—they provide large chunks of Reputation EXP.

Natlan: Reputation is spread across the 6 tribes. Each tribe has its own Reputation level and Obsidian Ring (separate from the Tablet of Tona). Prioritize the tribe whose Saurian you use most often—higher Reputation unlocks traversal upgrades for that Saurian type.

  • Official Teyvat Interactive Map (act.hoyolab.com): HoYoverse's official map. Syncs with your account to show which Oculi, chests, and puzzles you've already collected. Essential for 100% completion.
  • Genshin Optimizer: For artifact optimization, but also has an exploration tracker.
  • In-Game Exploration Progress: Open the map and view the exploration percentage in the bottom-left of each region's zoomed view. 100% does NOT mean all chests are collected—the threshold for 100% is approximately 85-90% of total chests due to rounding.
