Raiden Shogun Kit Mechanics

  • Elemental Skill (Eye of Stormy Judgment): Deploys an eye that follows the active character. Deals coordinated Electro attacks every 0.9 seconds when the active character deals damage. Also buffs party members' Elemental Burst DMG by 0.3% per point of Energy Cost (e.g., 24% for an 80-cost burst at Talent 10). Duration: 25 seconds. Cooldown: 10 seconds.

Engulfing Lightning vs The Catch R5

The Catch R5 is the F2P benchmark. At R5, it provides:

  • 45.9% ER (substat)
  • 32% Burst DMG (passive)
  • 12% Burst Crit Rate (passive)

Engulfing Lightning R1 provides:

  • 55.1% ER (substat, ~10% more)
  • 30% ER for 12s after Burst (active during her 7s Musou window + 5s buffer)
  • ATK = 28% of ER above 100% → at 270% ER: (170 × 0.28) = 47.6% ATK

The Raiden N3C Combo Explained

Raiden's optimal Normal Attack string during Musou Shinsetsu is N3C (3 Normal Attacks + Charged Attack):

  • CA: 134.6% MV + 107.1% MV (two hits)

Repeat ×3: 1,464% MV per burst window. This is the highest sustained damage combo.

Avoid N4 (slower, lower MV% per frame) and N5 (even slower). N1C spam is technically higher DPS but requires C1 (Charged Attacks cost less stamina during burst) to sustain — and loses Resolve hit count.

Common Mistakes

  1. Not funneling particles to Sara: Sara's 80-cost burst is difficult to recharge. After Raiden's burst ends, use Bennett E twice and funnel both particles to Sara before restarting rotation. Raiden's Energy restoration happens during her burst — by the time you're funneling, Sara should have ~50% Energy already if you built 180%+ ER.

  2. Using Kazuha Q too early: Kazuha's burst animation is long. If you Q before Bennett Q, VV shred wastes 2 seconds during setup. Always Bennett Q → Kazuha Q last before Sara.

  3. ATK% Goblet when using The Catch: The Catch has low Base ATK (510), meaning ATK% provides less value. Electro DMG% Goblet is mathematically superior with The Catch. Only consider ATK% Goblet with Engulfing Lightning (608 Base ATK + ATK conversion passive).
